ISLAMABAD: Imran Khan, the chairman of the PTI, was granted pre-arrest bail on Monday in the matter of prohibited funding until October 31 in exchange for an Rs. 100,000 surety bond.
The bail request was written by the PTI leader’s attorneys, who pleaded with the court to prevent the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) from detaining Khan.
After the Islamabad High Court (IHC) last week granted protective bail to the PTI chairman until October 18 (Tuesday) in the same case with the stipulation that Khan will approach the appropriate court, the PTI chairman made the decision to apply for relief from the special court.
Imran Khan, the chairman of the PTI, also made an appearance before Special Judge (Central) Raja Asif Mehmood today.
Imran Khan’s counsel argued before the court at the start of today’s hearing that the issue of jurisdiction is still pending before the IHC.
The judge then directed the lawyer to read the FIR. The judge stated that the petitioner appeared on the IHC’s order.
After hearing arguments, the court granted bail until the matter is decided by the Supreme Court.
