In the case involving Prohibited funding, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday granted protective bail to PTI Chairman Imran Khan till the following week.
After the former prime minister showed up at court after being summoned by Chief Justice Athar Minallah, the PTI leader was granted bail against surety bonds of Rs5,000 until October 18.
The PTI chairman’s request for protective bail in the illegal fundraising case filed by the Federal Investigation Agency was heard earlier today by Justice Minallah.
Imran Khan’s arrest is a danger, the PTI chairman’s attorney told the court at the beginning of the session.
The attorney informed the Court, “If the court directs Imran Khan will appear before it promptly.”
Hearing this, the IHC CJ instructed the attorney to request that his client appear today at 3 pm.
The attorney, however, asserted that his client could appear in court in 30 minutes even though it would be very late.
IHC CJ instructed the attorney, “Okay, then come [by then]”.
The police were also forbidden from arresting the PTI leader until he appeared in court, and the police were forbidden from “harassing” him.
