President Zardari proposed rehabilitation of Sindh outlaws who voluntarily surrender their arms

In Karachi, President Asif Ali Zardari advocated for the rehabilitation of outlaws operating in the Katcha areas of Sindh, provided they surrender to the authorities, during a meeting on the province’s law and order situation in Sukkur on Monday.

President Zardari stressed the importance of enhancing infrastructure, healthcare, and education facilities in the Kacha areas as a priority to uplift the socio-economic conditions of its inhabitants. He expressed a vision to gradually integrate those who surrender into mainstream society, aiming to transform them into responsible and productive citizens.

Additionally, President Zardari proposed convening a national jirga composed of tribal leaders to engage with local communities, aiming to restore peace, prevent crimes, disarm the area, and enhance overall security conditions.

During the meeting, President Zardari received updates on the implementation of directives issued earlier, highlighting a decline in crime rates and violence in Sindh, particularly in Karachi and the Kacha regions. Sindh’s Inspector General of Police, Ghulam Nabi Memon, reported significant reductions in dacoity and highway-related crimes due to effective strategies implemented by the police and Rangers.

Major General Azhar Waqas, Director General of Rangers Sindh, informed the meeting about joint operations conducted with the Sindh Police resulting in numerous arrests of criminals. He emphasized the establishment of additional check posts in Kacha areas to curb criminal activities.

President Zardari also emphasized intensifying efforts against drug trafficking, resulting in the arrest of 308 drug suppliers and the installation of smart cameras at entry points across the province.

Furthermore, President Zardari directed the Sindh Government to modernize the police force, enhance their capabilities with advanced equipment, and provide adequate resources and logistical support. He stressed the importance of incentivizing police officers and encouraging women to join the force, alongside ensuring the welfare of families and children of police martyrs.

The meeting was attended by several high-ranking officials including Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, Interior Minister Mohsin Raza Naqvi, and various federal and provincial government officials, highlighting a unified approach to addressing security challenges in Sindh.
