Police in Islamabad Cracking Down on Underage Drivers

The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) is targeting underage drivers and bikers without helmets. It has set up special teams to deal with the problem.

Under the direction of IGP Islamabad, Muhammad Ahsan Younis, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Traffic, Rai Mazhar Iqbal, carried out the effort, and the SSP also urged parents not to gift their children bikes or vehicles, as per a press release.

The SSP Traffic has directed all the zonal DSPs to take strong action against young and inexperienced drivers on the road and to provide a secure driving environment in the nation’s capital. Reviving attempts to educate the public about traffic laws is also part of his mandate.

SSP Traffic Iqbal has given the ITP’s teams the mission to visit educational institutions in order to instil a sense of traffic etiquette among pupils.
