The acquittal of Maryam Nawaz in the Avenfield case, according to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, is a significant rebuke to the political persecution of the Sharif family.
After the Islamabad High Court overturned the convictions in the Avenfield reference, PM Shehbaz met with PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz, according to Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb on Thursday.
She announced on Twitter that Maryam Nawaz and Captain Safdar had been found not guilty.
“I congratulate my leader, Nawaz Sharif, on the acquittal of Maryam Nawaz,” Shehbaz Sharif said. “I hope that justice will prevail in the case against Nawaz Sharif following the evidence of judge Arshad Malik.”
As Maryam Nawaz and her husband, Captain (ret.) Safdar, had their convictions overturned, PM Shehbaz also extended his appreciation to Allah.
“I thank God that justice was served as justice was served to my daughter Maryam and my son-in-law Safdar. A dark era of political victimization has come to an end and the innocent have come out untarnished and vindicated,” PM Shehbaz Stated.
