On Monday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif congratulated the Hindu community in Pakistan for the celebration of Holi. He encouraged everyone to embrace the day by recognizing their differences as sources of strength, fostering unity and harmony among all communities.
In a message from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), Shehbaz expressed his heartfelt congratulations to the Hindu community as they celebrate the vibrant Holi festival, also known as the Festival of Colours.
“In our capacity as Pakistanis, we celebrate the diverse aspects of our society, encompassing various ethnicities, languages, cultures, and religions,” he expressed.
The prime minister urged everyone to honor this day by recognizing our differences as sources of strength. He also expressed his wish for “new beginnings, hope, and happiness” for all as spring arrives, symbolizing fresh starts and positivity.
While President Asif Ali Zardari addressed the festival, he emphasized its representation of good overcoming evil. Through Radio Pakistan’s broadcast, he highlighted the Constitution’s assurance of religious liberty.
The statement attributed to him said, “Pakistan is a vibrant assortment of individuals from various faiths.”
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz conveyed her congratulations and well-wishes to the community as well.
She declared a special initiative for the community in celebration of Holi, providing financial assistance of Rs10,000 to 700 Hindu families within the province.
She stated, “Holi celebrations will contribute to the advancement of understanding, harmony, and unity within the nation.” Furthermore, she emphasized that every minority group in the country enjoys equal opportunities and rights.
