ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif paid a heartfelt tribute to the shuhada, Ghazi, and their families for their selfless sacrifices and contributions in defense of the motherland. He addressed a ceremony at the Army Auditorium at GHQ in Rawalpindi to honor the Shuhada and Ghazi.
During the event, the Prime Minister lauded the role of the Armed Forces in safeguarding the country’s territorial integrity and effectively combating terrorism across Pakistan.
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif expressed his gratitude to Army Chief General Asim Munir for his cooperation, revealing that the army chief emphasized the need to work for the country’s development upon assuming the post.
He emphasized that substantial investments from around the world will now flow into Pakistan via SIFC (presumably referring to a specific initiative).
The Prime Minister asserted that the respect and honor of Shuhada and Ghazis are a collective obligation for every Pakistani. He underlined the significance of their sacrifices, which paved the way for the peace and freedom enjoyed today.
“We must never forget that the peace and freedom we enjoy today are due to the ultimate sacrifices rendered by these brave sons of the soil. I salute their families for sacrificing their loved ones in Pakistan,” Shehbaz Sharif stated.
He urged that it is now the nation’s earnest duty to translate the supreme sacrifices of Shuhada and Ghazis into the prosperity and well-being of every Pakistani.
Furthermore, Prime Minister Sharif asserted that those who disrespect the monuments of Shuhada will be remembered unfavorably in the history of the country, and the people of Pakistan will not forget their actions.
During the event, Prime Minister Sharif distributed special financial assistance cheques among 70 families of martyrs and 30 War Wounded Persons. Laptops were also given to the children of Shuhada who are pursuing their academic studies.
Prior to the ceremony, as part of his farewell visit to the GHQ, the Prime Minister was warmly received by Chief of Army Staff, General Syed Asim Munir. He met with the Principal Staff Officers and was accorded a Guard of Honour. He also laid a floral wreath at the Yadgar-e-Shuhada.
