ISLAMABAD: The Pakistani team made an impressive debut at the inaugural International Nuclear Science Olympiad (INSO-2024) held in Clark, Philippines, from August 1-6, 2024. They secured two silver and two bronze medals, showcasing exceptional talent on a global stage.
Suleman Nouman of Siddeeq Public School, Islamabad, and Subhan Kashif from Lahore Grammar School earned silver medals, while Ehban Awan from Karachi Grammar School and Qasim Salam from Siddeeq Public School, Rawalpindi, were awarded bronze medals.
The team was selected by the Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences (PIEAS), a premier engineering institution under the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC), following a rigorous selection process. The chosen students underwent intensive training at PIEAS under the guidance of Dr. Sajjad Tahir and Dr. Muhammad Maqsood from the PAEC Education Directorate.
INSO-2024, sponsored by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and other global institutions, provided a platform for students worldwide to showcase their skills in nuclear science.
The achievements of the students, along with the support from their families, teachers, and mentors from PIEAS and PAEC, are commendable. This success adds to Pakistan’s recent accolades in International Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics Olympiads, further highlighting the country’s growing prominence in the global scientific community.
