Lahore Observes Public Holiday on September 7 for Data Ganj Bakhsh Urs

The caretaker government of Punjab has declared a public holiday in Lahore on Thursday, September 7, to commemorate the annual Urs of Data Ganj Bakhsh Syed Ali Hajveri.

Caretaker Chief Minister of Punjab, Mohsin Naqvi, made this announcement during his visit to Data Darbar in Lahore. The Urs ceremony is scheduled to last for three days, commencing on September 5.

Naqvi, during his visit, pledged to oversee special arrangements for Sabeel (refreshment stalls) outside the Darbar to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for all the visitors.

He also received a comprehensive briefing on the preparations for the Urs, emphasizing the collaborative efforts of the District Administration, Aukaaf Department, and the Darbar’s dedicated team to ensure top-notch arrangements.

“We just visited Data Darbar and had an insightful briefing on Urs arrangements. The District Administration, Aukaaf Department, and Darbar’s team are all hands on deck to ensure top-notch preparations.

We will ensure special Sabeel arrangements outside the Darbar to ensure a seamless experience for all visitors,” he conveyed.

The Urs of Data Ganj Bakhsh Syed Ali Hajveri is a significant religious and cultural event in Lahore, drawing devotees and visitors from various parts of the country. It is a time when the shrine and the city come alive with spiritual activities, gatherings, and celebrations.

The declaration of a public holiday underscores the importance of this occasion and facilitates the participation of people in the festivities.

The annual Urs commemorates the life and teachings of Hazrat Data Ganj Bakhsh, a revered Sufi saint, and serves as a symbol of unity, spirituality, and devotion for the people of Lahore and beyond.
