KARACHI: After the heavy downpours of the current monsoon season, dengue fever has taken hold in Karachi, where additional 264 cases were reported the previous day.
Details show that 264 dengue virus cases were reported in Karachi, bringing the total number of cases for October to 760.
According to data made public by the Sindh health department, there have been about 9,240 dengue cases reported nationwide so far this year. A total of 38 people have died throughout the province as a result of the cold or flu, with Karachi accounting for 36 of those deaths.
As the dengue virus was fast spreading throughout Karachi, the local government initiated an anti-dengue campaign akin to that of Islamabad on September 30.
Details indicate that training for doctors and other employees of the provincial health department has begun under the direction of medical teams from Islamabad and Lahore. District East, the area most impacted by the virus, was where the anti-dengue programme was initially introduced.
In order to get rid of the virus, 20 nearby residential facilities and the homes of patients were sprayed with anti-dengue spray, according to District Health Officer (DHO) East Dr. Naeem Sikandar.
Additionally, according to Dr. Naeem Sikandar, the administration was mapping the regions where the cases are being reported.
“So far, over 1800 cases of dengue have been reported in the district east,” the DHO stated.
