Data from the Sindh health department showed on Sunday that at least 246 more dengue cases had been reported in Karachi in the last 24 hours.
36 people have already lost their lives in the megacity as a result of vector-borne disease, according to a report from the provincial health department.
District East in Karachi has reported the most significant number of cases, including 66 patients infected the previous day.
District West reported 10 cases, District Korangi reported 33, Central 55, Malir 28, South 36, Keamari 13, and District Malir 28.
This year’s unprecedented monsoon rains have led Karachi to suffer one of the worst dengue infections in its history.
As the dengue virus was fast spreading throughout Karachi, the district administration initiated an anti-dengue campaign akin to that of Islamabad.
Details indicate that training for doctors and other workers of the provincial health department has begun under the direction of medical teams from Islamabad and Lahore. District East, the area most affected by the virus, was where the anti-dengue programme was initially introduced.
In order to get rid of the virus, 20 nearby residential facilities and the homes of patients were sprayed with anti-dengue spray, according to District Health Officer (DHO) East Dr. Naeem Sikandar.
