Karachi: Armed men snatched Rs. 800,000 and DSP’s cellphones as he was leaving a bank

The sense of fear in the city has grown as a result of a major increase in street crime. On Thursday, a group of armed men snatched Rs800,000 and cell phones from a police officer at gunpoint in Gulshan-e-Iqbal.

As the deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Saad Jabbar’s car approached his residence in Shanti Nagar, Dalmia, four robbers on two motorbikes, according to Aziz Bhatti police, stole Rs800,000 and two mobile phones from him.

When the officer was returning from a bank, the robbers followed him. A police inquiry has been started after obtaining CCTV footage of the incident.

The change occurred a few days after the city police chief claimed that despite people’s intense concern over Karachi’s rising crime rate, the situation in the city is not as bad as it is being made out to be.
