In connection with the Karsaz accident in Karachi, the suspect has been ordered to remain in custody for 14 days

Jinnah Hospital Doctor Reports Natasha’s Mental Health as Stable, Contradicting Family Claims

In the Karachi Karsaz traffic accident case, Natasha, the suspect, has been remanded to 14 days in jail on judicial remand. During a hearing at the Karachi City Court, the judicial magistrate ruled that Natasha must remain in custody as the case progresses.

Natasha’s lawyer argues that the legal provisions applied to her case are bailable, but the investigation officer contends that the recent addition of Section 322—pertaining to culpable homicide—renders the charges non-bailable. This section heightens the severity of the case, shifting from the original charge of accidental murder under Section 320.

The petitioner’s lawyer has requested an investigation into the type of drug Natasha may have been under the influence of at the time of the accident, which resulted in the deaths of two individuals. When asked about her husband’s name, Natasha identified him as Danish. She also denied any claims of police torture during the court’s inquiry. The investigating officer was instructed to submit the investigation report at the next hearing.

The police have added the culpable homicide charge following revelations that Natasha did not have a local driving license at the time of the incident. Surveillance footage indicates that Natasha’s vehicle was traveling at approximately 100 kilometers per hour on a service road where the speed limit is 30 to 40 kilometers per hour, suggesting significant over-speeding that contributed to the serious charges.

Contrary to the family’s claims of Natasha’s mental illness, Dr. Chunni Lal, head of the psychiatric ward at Jinnah Hospital, has reported that Natasha’s mental condition is stable and the likelihood of suicide is low. Dr. Lal stated that while Natasha’s condition was poor upon her arrival at the hospital on August 19, she has since been deemed fit and was discharged. No previous medical records supporting the family’s assertions of mental illness were provided.
