Imran Khan, the chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, was granted bail on Monday by the anti-terrorism court in a case brought against him as a result of nationwide protests over his disqualification from the Toshakhana reference.
Imran Khan and other PTI officials were charged with terrorism by the Islamabad Police after party members marched to the streets and damaged government property.
In the complaints, which were registered under 7ATA and other PPC sections at various police stations in the federal capital, hundreds of PTI members and leaders were accused of obstructing traffic and assaulting police officers at the direction of Imran Khan, Asad Umar, Ali Nawaz Awan, and others.
PTI Chairman Imran Khan appeared before Judge Jawad Hassan Abbas at the Federal Judicial Complex to request his release on bail.
Following the hearing, the court granted the former prime minister interim bail with Rs. 100,000 surety bond until October 31.
