According to Pakistan’s prime minister, Shehbaz Sharif, widespread flash floods have made the country’s economic position worse.
He emphasised that in order to help the nation out of its economic crisis, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) standards must be met.
Shahbaz Sharif stated that although Pakistan and the IMF had signed a contract, it had not been upheld while speaking at the lawyers’ convention in Islamabad. As a result, he claimed, the Fund got harsher with the nation
The prime minister emphasised the need of adhering to all IMF conditions, warning that if the country doesn’t, the IMF programme will end.
According to PM Shehbaz, by working hard, his government saved the country from going into economic default. He said, “If we visit a friendly country, they say we have come to beg,”.
“We were asleep when gas was the cheapest in the world,” he remarked.
In his remarks on the situation of the flood victims, the prime minister remarked that because they are unable to eat even once a day, their lives have become unpleasant.
He added that no one could comprehend their predicament because the water destroyed everything they owned. This is accurate, he added, adding that the 30 million flood victims would face fresh difficulties throughout the coming winter.
