Imran Khan, the chairman of the PTI, stated on Wednesday that he had no opinion on who will be chosen as the next army chief and that the commander should be deserving to hold such an important position.
Imran Khan said While talking to journalists in Lahore, “I don’t care who becomes the next army chief.”
“But he, the army chief, should be appointed on merit. They [government] want to bring a chief of their choice. How can a criminal appoint the army chief?” Khan Added.

In response to the question of the missing cypher, Khan stated: “It hasn’t been taken, the cypher. The Foreign Office still has the master copy of it. Thankfully, they acknowledge that a cypher existed.”
The chairman of PTI also stated that he would first find out who Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Donald Lu ordered to be fired if he were to be called in by the committee looking into the disappearance of the cypher.
In response to a question, Khan stated that the Election Commission of Pakistan’s deadline of October 16 for the holding of by-elections for eight seats in the National Assembly was far off and there was a chance that they might not take place.
“The Election Commission of Pakistan is partial and they (the government) want to have me disqualified.”
The PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari and PML-N Supreme Leader Nawaz Sharif’s Toshakhana cases should be heard concurrently, he said in his criticism of the coalition’s leadership.
“I have not committed any unlawful acts. On the other side, they (Zardari and Nawaz) drove costly cars that they weren’t entitled to a home, according to Khan.
Rana Sanaullah, the interior minister, was also criticised by the former prime minister, who questioned how he could prevent his party from marching to Islamabad.
“Our government functions in all four corners […] we are in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Azad Kashmir. He (Sanaullah) is just threatening us,” Khan said, adding that the government itself is a “security threat”.
