Maryam Nawaz, the vice president of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), is scheduled to leave for London today (Wednesday) after the Lahore High Court accepted the passport she had shown to be out on bail in the Chaudhry Sugar Mills Case.
At the Allama Iqbal International Airport in Lahore, the PML-N leader has already arrived in preparation for her journey to London.
Maryam stated, “I cannot wait for the jet to land [in London] and greet my father.
According to sources, the PML-N leader has boarded a private aircraft flight that will take off at 10 am.
In addition, they stated that she would stay in London for two weeks and get a checkup.
Maryam’s passport was given back to her a day earlier than planned after being instructed to do so by the Lahore High Court’s three-member panel earlier this week.
The PML-N leader complained to the LHC about the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) claiming that despite the lack of a charge sheet or trial against her, she has been unable to exercise her constitutional rights for around four years.
She had argued that she had a pressing need to leave the country in order to care for and check on her ailing father. She had asked the court to order the deputy registrar (judicial) to return her passport in the interest of justice.
When post-arrest bail was authorised for Maryam Nawaz in the Chaudhry Sugar Mills case, she turned over her passport to the court.
