KARACHI: Sindh Energy Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah announced that the provincial government will soon provide 100 free units of electricity, according to ARY News.
In his statement, the energy minister highlighted that the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) promised 300 free units in its election manifesto. He acknowledged the concerns of citizens regarding rising electricity bills, noting that significant progress has been made in Sindh toward delivering 300 free units of electricity. “We are starting with 100 free units, followed by 200, and ultimately 300 units,” Syed Nasir Hussain Shah stated.
The energy minister also revealed plans for two solarization programs aimed at distributing solar panels to 200,000 households. “We will distribute 50,000 solar panels by August,” he added.
Furthermore, he mentioned the construction of solar parks to generate electricity, which will be supplied to the National Transmission and Dispatch Company (NTDC). He confirmed that the provision of free solar panels will commence by August.
During a meeting on the free solar supply project, Shah instructed officials to expedite efforts to ensure solar panels reach those in need by the end of August. “We will start the process of distributing solar panels in each division and district soon,” he emphasized.
Syed Nasir Hussain Shah reiterated that the Sindh government aims to provide relief to the public by offering affordable electricity.
