Jamshed Ahmed Dasti, a former member of the National Assembly (MNA), and the leader of the Awami Raj Party was arrested by police on Tuesday for dishonesty.

Jamshed Dasti was an evader in a dishonesty case, according to sources. The Truck Drivers’ Association filed a lawsuit against Jamshed Dasti for failing to refund Rs3.8 million.

The reports claim that Dasti was detained after checking into a hotel in Rawalpindi.

Further information from sources indicated that Jamshed Dasti would be turned over to the Muzaffargarh Police.

For presenting a fraudulent graduation certificate during the 2008 election, Dasti was given a sentence of three years in prison and a fine of 5,000 Rupees in April 2013.

The Lahore High Court’s Multan bench heard Dasti’s appeal on April 10, 2013, and his conviction was reversed.
