ISLAMABAD: Finance Minister Ishaq Dar and a delegation departed for the US on Tuesday to have talks with international lenders.
Details indicate that the delegation would negotiate with the World Bank and the IMF. It will be led by Finance Minister Ishaq Dar (WB).
In light of the severe floods in the nation, Pakistan has been requesting fresh terms from international lenders.
Before taking over the finance minister, Ishaq Dar met virtually with Nathan Porter, the mission chief of the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
The finance minister updated the IMF on the economic situation brought on by the country’s terrible floods, which impacted infrastructure, agriculture, and people’s means of subsistence, according to a handout issued by the finance ministry.
FM Bilawal Bhutto Zardari stated during a recent visit to the US that the floods in Pakistan are a worldwide tragedy and need to be acknowledged on a global scale.
A deal was just made with the IMF for economic stability, according to FM Bilawal Bhutto in an interview on French TV in New York, however, all the estimates and numbers of the agreement were destroyed by the most recent flood.
