FBR Revises Decision on Ban for Bringing Two Mobile Phones and Over $1,200 into Pakistan

The Chairman of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has suspended the recently proposed amendments to the Customs baggage rules of 2006, halting the new ban on bringing more than one mobile phone into Pakistan.

FBR chairman has ordered the withdrawal of these proposed changes.

Under the current 2006 regulations, travelers are allowed to bring two mobile phones into the country.

Additionally, the chairman rescinded the proposed restrictions on commercial imports exceeding $1,200, instructing that the amendments be reconsidered through further consultation before being resubmitted.

The FBR had previously issued a notification detailing changes to the baggage rules, including a ban on bringing commercial quantities of goods and a restriction to only one mobile phone for personal use. However, this decision has now been reversed pending a more thorough review.
