ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif addressed a speech at the dinner held in honor of the lawmakers of parliament and stated that they are currently making efforts to establish a caretaker setup that would be ‘acceptable to all.’
PM Shehbaz emphasized that when the PDM government took over in difficult times, there were dangers everywhere, and the country was on the brink of bankruptcy.
“We saved the state despite facing criticism for 15 months, and our conscience is satisfied that we prioritized the nation’s welfare over politics,” said the prime minister.
He informed the parliamentarians that they had to remove the hurdles planted by the PTI government, which had adversely affected various institutions and departments due to the PTI chairman’s stubbornness.
The premier assured the members that he intends to dissolve the assemblies on August 9, and he plans to consult with all parties, including the opposition leader, to nominate a caretaker prime minister.
Shehbaz Sharif attributed the success of the PDM government in overcoming difficulties to the support of the coalition government, noting that reaching an agreement with the IMF was particularly challenging.
He added that their government would end in the next few days, and they are currently striving to establish a caretaker setup that would gain universal acceptance.
Before the farewell dinner hosted by the premier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a meeting with the parliamentary leaders.
During the meeting, they discussed the political situation of the country and the nomination process for the caretaker prime minister.
Several members of parliament from various political parties, including Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani and the leader of Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP) Aun Chaudhary, also attended the dinner hosted by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in their honor at the Prime Minister’s House.
Earlier, the Prime Minister had a detailed consultation with Chairman Pakistan People’s Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on the overall political situation in the country.
During the meeting, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, who also serves as the Foreign Minister, briefed the Prime Minister on various matters pertaining to his ministry.
