The Sindh government has declared a holiday for all educational institutions on August 26 (Monday) to mark the Chehlum of Imam Hussain.
This decision, made by the provincial Education Department’s steering committee, recognizes the significance of this day in the Islamic calendar.
The Chehlum, observed on the 40th day following Ashura, commemorates the martyrdom of Imam Hussain, the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad, who fell in the Battle of Karbala.

In addition to the general announcement for schools, the Department of College Education has also confirmed the closure of colleges across Sindh on the same date.
