A man has been apprehended by the police for reportedly attempting to attack a female passenger who was seated in his taxi, with a gun pointed at her.
An occurrence happened close to a residential community off the Superhighway. A man, accused of attempting to attack a woman who had just come back from the US, did so under threat of a gun. Subsequently, she reported the incident.
Zeenat Rof, the person of interest, has been taken into police custody. They will be held by the authorities for a period of two days.
As per the testimony provided by the woman to the police authorities, she had reserved the taxi on April 10th. In her account, the driver brandished a weapon and tried to attack her, which led her to cry out for help.
The individual who experienced harm disclosed that, upon hearing her yell, the driver responded with aggression and even tried to physically harm her. Subsequently, the driver attempted to escape the scene by performing a U-turn and heading towards her home.
The woman observed a civilian’s vehicle and sounded the car’s horn, which led to the driver aiming a gun at her once more.
The individual fired a bullet and warned the woman against disclosing the events, yet she managed to flee the situation.
The surveillance video played a crucial role in the police apprehending the suspect, as well as in the successful retrieval of the stolen vehicle and the weapon involved.
On April 13, the incident was reported to Gadap City police station. The authorities disclosed that the alleged offender was using a counterfeit number plate on their taxi.
