To improve transparency in the provision of flood relief aid and its distribution, a digital flood dashboard will be introduced on Monday (today), per the orders of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
On Saturday, the prime minister presided over a meeting at which it was resolved to develop a digital flood dashboard to tell the public about the monetary aid and relief supplies that are being received and given to flood victims. The dashboard which contains all the information regarding relief efforts, receipt,s and distribution of aid, was designed using the most recent technology, Prime Minister was told. Additionally, information about relief initiatives would be shared with the general public and media.
The AGPR and other well-known auditing firms will audit the money given to flood victims to ensure transparency, the prime minister has declared. He also urged for accelerating the repair of roads, bridges, and the electrical grid while reviewing the restoration of services in the impacted districts.
Furthermore, Miftah Ismail, the federal minister of finance and revenue, said that the government had allocated Rs70 billion for the relief and rehabilitation of flood victims. He assured the media that an additional Rs50 billion will be given to the impacted individuals following a meeting with All Pakistan Textile Mills Association office holders. Miftah said that every dollar brought in from overseas will be subject to internal and external audits. He added that 33 million people were currently sleeping outside and that Shehbaz Sharif, the prime minister, was working around the clock to speed up their early recuperation. He added that APTMA has contributed Rs. 400 million to the Prime Minister’s Flood Relief Fund and that “the prime minister would shortly have talks with industrialists and business people.”
