Defence Day celebrated with simplicity amid floods

The annual Defense Day ceremony hosted by the Pakistan Army at the General Headquarters on September 6 is postponed

Defence and Martyrs’ Day is being celebrated today to honor the shaheed (martyrs) and ghazis (honorific for living soldiers) simply.

This is happening amid unprecedented floods that have flooded one-third of the country and killed over 1,300 people so far.

The Pakistan Army postponed its annual Defence Day ceremony, which is usually held at the General Headquarters on September 6 every year, to show support for people who were affected by floods in other parts of the country.

The ceremony is held to remember what the heroes who died in the 1965 war did.

On this date in 1965, Indian forces secretly entered Pakistan during the night in an attempt to launch an attack, but Pakistan’s defenses held.

Following today’s Fajr, mosques held special prayers for the betterment of the nation and for the liberation of occupied Jammu and Kashmir from India’s savage grip.

At the tomb of Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah, a well-dressed contingent of PAF Academy Asghar Khan students presented the guard of honor and assumed ceremonial guard duties.
