A man acting as a patient entered a bustling commercial area of Saddar and opened fire on the victims on Wednesday evening, killing a young Chinese man and gravely injuring a Chinese dental couple, according to officials and witnesses. The attacker was wearing a surgical mask.
According to South-SSP Syed Asad Raza, at around 4.05 p.m., an unidentified person entered Dr. Richard Hu’s Preedy Street private dental office and waited in the waiting area for teeth treatment.
The senior cop stated, “After approximately 15-20 minutes, he entered the clinic area and opened fire on Dr. Richard Hu, his wife Phen Teyin, and their aide Ronald Raymond Chou after pulling out a 9mm pistol.” The gunman did not harm any Pakistanis present, the senior officer added.
As a result, Ronald, their employee, was shot and instantly killed, leaving the couple with gunshot wounds.
The deceased was transferred to Dr. Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) for medical-legal procedures while the couple were rushed right away to the neighbouring Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center for treatment.
The three victims had dual nationalities from China and Pakistan, according to reports, and Dr. Richard Hu reportedly maintained this private clinic in the neighbourhood for more than 40 years, according to the SSP South.
The dead resided in Cantt Karachi, while the couple lived in Clifton’s Park Lane neighbourhood.
The clinic and surrounding businesses’ closed-circuit television camera footage has been acquired.
According to Mr. Raza, the attacker was dressed in a red cap, dark blue pants, and a dark blue shirt. He also managed to flee after opening fire with a companion who had parked his motorcycle at the intersection of Preedy Street and M.A. Jinnah Road. To gather clues, the area is being geofenced.
