In order to replace departing deputy commissioner Mohammad Hussain, the Baluchistan government on Tuesday selected a female officer to serve as the district’s deputy commissioner with immediate effect.
Following notification of her appointment from the Services and General Administration, Engineer Ayesha Zehri took on her new responsibilities.
A female officer was appointed as deputy commissioner of any district in the province for the first time in Balochistan’s administrative history.
Ms. Zehri, an electrical engineer by training, was employed by the irrigation division. She graduated from Khuzdar Engineering University with a BE in electrical engineering, and she initially worked as an SDO for Wapda before showing up for the exam for the province services commission and joining the provincial services in 2017.
Ms. Zehri led numerous operations against criminals and drug traffickers in the district while serving as the assistant commissioner of Chagai, and despite exchanging heavy fire, she arrested a number of suspects.
During the rain emergency in Bolan, she also helped the flood-stricken passengers stranded between Bibi Nani and Pinjra Bridge.
