ISLAMABAD: According, to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) soldier was martyred and security forces eliminated four terrorists while apprehending another following a shootout in the general area of Charmang in Bajaur district.
According to a statement released by the ISPR, the security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Charmang based on information regarding the presence of terrorists.
The military’s media wing stated, “During the operation, a fierce exchange of fire took place between security forces and terrorists.”
After gaining control of the situation, the security forces apprehended one terrorist who survived the operation.
However, weapons, ammunition, and explosives, including a suicide vest, were also caught by the terrorists. These individuals had been actively engaged in various “terrorist activities against security forces and were responsible for the deaths of innocent citizens through suicide bombings,” the statement added.
Eradicate terrorism from the country
Meanwhile, ISPR identified the martyred soldier as Sepoy Muhammad Shoaib, aged 24.
Efforts to cleanse the area of any remaining terrorists are currently underway.
The statement emphasized that Pakistan’s security forces remain resolute in their determination to eradicate terrorism from the country.
Furthermore, Pakistan has witnessed a significant upsurge in terrorist activities, including numerous suicide bombings and armed assaults, primarily targeting police and law enforcement agencies in the northwestern provinces. These incidents have resulted in numerous casualties and extensive property damage.
However, the latest instance of terrorism was the devastating suicide blast at the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) convention in Bajaur, which claimed the lives of over 60 people, including children.
The resurgence of militancy has been notable, particularly with the resurgence of Taliban rule in neighboring Afghanistan and the cessation of the ceasefire between Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and Islamabad.
Furthermore, cross-border militancy persists despite Islamabad’s repeated reminders to Afghanistan to fulfill its commitment to preventing the use of its territory for terrorism against Pakistan.
