Emma Dumont, known for her role in Oppenheimer, has publicly revealed that she is a transmasculine non-binary individual and will now go by the name “Nick Dumont” among friends and family. She has also adopted they/them pronouns.
In an Instagram update, Dumont’s representative confirmed the news, clarifying that while her professional name will remain Emma Dumont, she will be referred to as Nick in personal settings.
Although Dumont has not yet spoken publicly about her transition, she has been active on social media, sharing her transformation journey. She debuted a new pixie haircut in May and has posted updates since, showcasing her evolving identity.
Dumont has appeared in several notable projects, including Marvel’s The Gifted, Licorice Pizza directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, and NBC’s Aquarius alongside David Duchovny.
The actor is also set to star in the upcoming horror thriller New Me, which has finished filming, although a release date has not yet been announced.
“Transmasculine” refers to individuals assigned female at birth who identify or express themselves in a masculine way. Dumont has not yet publicly discussed her coming out, but fellow actor Emma Corrin, who came out as non-binary in 2022, has shared the personal challenges faced in the process.
In 2020, Canadian actor Elliot Page came out as transgender, and last year, he appeared in Close to You, hoping to open hearts and minds with his story.
