The proposed M6 Motorway will cover 306 kilometers. Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and Federal Minister for Communications Aleem Khan have reached an agreement to construct the motorway, which will connect Karachi to Sukkur via Hyderabad.
This decision was made during a meeting at the Chief Minister’s House, where they discussed possible public-private partnership options for the project.
The motorway will feature six lanes and be designed as a high-speed toll road, aimed at improving transportation efficiency and safety. This initiative seeks to facilitate port traffic and enhance connectivity between major cities.
A previous partnership for the motorway construction was signed in December 2022, but work had not commenced, leading to its cancellation. The new proposal focuses on starting the motorway from Karachi to better meet logistical needs.
During the discussions, the Chief Minister also urged the federal government to transfer control of the Lyari Expressway to provincial authorities for necessary upgrades. They also addressed several other pending infrastructure projects in the region. The meeting included high-ranking officials from both provincial and federal governments, who will continue to explore collaborative efforts for infrastructure development in Sindh.
