The parent company of Facebook, Meta, has been requested to open an office in Pakistan by Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Syed Aminul Haque after Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.
The Minister of IT & Telecom visited a high-level delegation from Meta in Romania, according to a series of tweets from the Ministry of IT & Telecom. For the International Telecommunication Union’s Ministerial Conference, 186 ministerial delegations have assembled in Bucharest, Romania (ITU PP-22).
During the conversation, Haq pressed Meta to establish a local office in Pakistan once more, and the platform’s executives promised to go there soon.
Both Dr. Zafar Iqbal, Pakistan’s ambassador to Romania, and Khalil Hashmi, Pakistan’s permanent representative to the United Nations Geneva Office, were present at the meeting. As Chief Executive of the Universal Service Fund, Haris Mahmood Chaudhry, briefed the team on the programmes for internet services in Pakistan.
Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had already pushed Meta to open an office in Pakistan.

The foreign minister urged Meta to build an office in Pakistan during the discussion, noting that the nation’s IT industry has experienced rapid growth in recent years, creating new prospects for platforms to extend their operations.
