According to a social media post, the management of a government institution in Sialkot, Punjab, made attendance at a speech by former prime minister Imran Khan mandatory for students.
The assertion is true. The speech required attendance for students.
On October 26, Imran Khan, the PTI chairman, spoke to college students in Sialkot.
Several social media users claimed that the Directorate of Public Instruction (DPI) Punjab had instructed Government Jinnah Islamia Graduate College, Sialkot, to make sure that students heard Khan speak after the address.
The DPI is a state agency responsible with keeping an eye on the administrative and financial operations of Punjab’s government colleges.
The notice being distributed has a date of October 25. It states: “Former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan will give a speech tomorrow (Wednesday, October 26, 2022) at 11:30am at the grounds of Government Murray College Sialkot. Student and staff participation is required.
On the DPI’s instructions, the principal of Government Jinnah Islamia Graduate College has signed the note.
According to a tweet from a Twitter user, DPI Colleges Punjab had instructed everyone personnel, including students, to be present by 11 am since Imran Khan had to speak.
The principal of the Government Jinnah Islamia College, Professor Mujahid Hussain Bukhari, verified that he had actually sent out a notification requiring students to attend Khan’s speech
Professor Bukhari stated, “The notice you have is correct. The DPI convened a conference of principals [of institutions] from the entire district of Sialkot on October 24.”
The principal said, “Imran Khan will be speaking, and kids should go if they wish to.” He said, “My signatures are on the notification, which was released in response to the DPI meeting.
