According to Karachi’s police chief, up until August of this year, 333 people were killed in domestic disputes, 58 during robberies and other instances of street crime, and 269 were injured after putting up resistance during robberies and other episodes of street crime
According to Addl IGP Odho, up to August of this year, the police also killed 73 infamous dacoits and captured 698 other criminals who were injured. The formation of a new force inside the Karachi police to combat the threat of street crime, as well as the techniques and operations used to restore order in the city, were the reasons for calling the press conference, he informed the media
He claimed that the Shaheen Force consists of 300 officers, all of whom will
be outfitted with cutting-edge tools and weaponry. He also emphasized that the
new force would respond swiftly and safeguard the city’s citizens.
The police chief stated that the officers would be stationed in areas with a high concentration of street crime reports. He also stated that the Shaheen Force officers would patrol the areas where the majority of the reports were made.
In the meantime, the Citizens-Police Liaison Committee’s data on street crime indicates that such incidences have fallen by 36.5% during the previous two weeks. The police head asserted that there had been fewer house robberies this year than there were last year (395 crimes reported, compared to 303 this year).
He claimed that during the course of 2022, the police engaged in 598 shootouts with criminals, during which they killed 73 criminals, detained 698 people who had been hurt, and seized 4,464 firearms of various calibers.
