The federal government has increased profit rates on several National Savings certificates by up to 19 basis points (BPS), giving investors higher returns from October 1, 2026.
According to a notification issued by the National Savings Department, the revised rates apply to several savings schemes. Some returns now exceed the central bank’s benchmark lending rate of 11.5%.
The Short Term Savings Certificates now offer an 11.31% return after an increase of three basis points from 11.28%. Meanwhile, the Pensioners Benefit Account rate has risen 12 basis points from 12.6 % to 12.72%.
Defence And Bahbood Certificates Offer Higher Returns
The government increased the profit rate on Defence Savings Certificates by 19 basis points. The scheme now offers an 11.8% return compared with the previous rate of 11.61%.
Similarly, the Bahbood Savings Certificates now provide a 12.72% profit rate after a 12-basis-point increase. The revised rates aim to reflect changing financial conditions and prevailing interest rate trends.
Islamic Savings Schemes Get Revised Rates
The government has also revised returns for Islamic savings products under the National Savings framework. Both the Serwa Islamic Term Account and Serwa Islamic Saving Account now offer an 11.33% rate of return.
Profit rate adjustments generally follow changes in interest rates and broader monetary policy developments. Investors can therefore expect National Savings returns to change periodically as financial conditions evolve.
The latest revision gives savers updated returns across conventional, pensioner-focused and Islamic savings products. The new rates officially took effect on October 1, 2026.
