The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has introduced a new digital facility allowing citizens to register their Nikah online through the Pak-ID mobile app. The initiative aims to simplify the marriage registration process, reducing the need for physical visits to Union Councils (UCs).
Easy Access Through Pak-ID App
Citizens can now complete their Nikah registration directly in their respective UCs using the mobile app. Once the process is complete, the marriage registration certificate becomes available for download in the app’s ID wallet. This feature allows couples to access official documentation without delays or in-person follow-ups.
Service Available in Three Districts
Initially, the online Nikah registration facility is active in Chakwal, Jhelum, and Nankana Sahib. Residents of 71 UCs in Chakwal, 44 in Jhelum, and 65 in Nankana Sahib can now benefit from the service. NADRA plans to expand this digital feature across Pakistan in a phased rollout soon.
Nationwide Expansion on the Horizon
Officials confirmed that the digital Nikah registration will eventually be available in every district, helping citizens complete the process securely from their homes. The initiative aligns with Pakistan’s broader efforts toward digital governance and citizen convenience.
Free CNIC Issuance for First-Time Applicants
NADRA recently launched another public convenience initiative: providing free Computerised National Identity Cards (CNICs) to first-time applicants within 15 days. Citizens aged 18 and above can apply at any nearby NADRA centre to obtain their first CNIC without paying a fee.
Under the law, every individual who reaches the age of 18 becomes eligible for a CNIC and gains the right to vote in general elections. NADRA has encouraged all eligible citizens to complete their registration promptly to benefit from the free issuance program.
Transforming Public Services Through Digital Access
By enabling online Nikah registration and digital ID access, NADRA is modernising essential public services in Pakistan. The move reflects the government’s ongoing efforts to make official processes faster, more transparent, and accessible to all citizens nationwide.
