ISLAMABAD: The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has introduced ATM-style self-service kiosks to make identity services faster and easier for citizens.
The new machines allow people to complete several routine services without visiting traditional service counters.
Citizens can use the touchscreen kiosks to apply for CNICs, renew identity cards and obtain Family Registration Certificates.
After verifying their identity, users can select the required service and follow the automated instructions.
New system aims to reduce waiting times
NADRA spokesperson Syed Shabahat Ali said the kiosks could serve around 65 to 70 percent of citizens.
The system aims to reduce pressure on crowded registration centres and shorten waiting times.
The kiosks also support selected services involving CNIC and NICOP renewals and replacement of lost or damaged documents.
Citizens can additionally use the machines to cancel identity documents where applicable.
NADRA expands digital services
Meanwhile, NADRA is expanding its queue-free services across Pakistan during 2026.
Citizens can also use the PakID mobile application and online Pak Identity platform for eligible services.
These platforms allow users to submit applications remotely and track their progress.
Furthermore, NADRA has launched a pilot programme for CNIC reprints through selected e-Sahulat franchises.
The initial programme covers 18 outlets across Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore and Karachi.
The new initiatives aim to provide citizens with quicker access to routine identity services while reducing congestion at NADRA centres.
