Bollywood actors Shraddha Kapoor and Nora Fatehi have been cleared in a 2022 drugs case after authorities in Mumbai confirmed that investigators found no evidence against them. Moreover, police officials stated that the investigation has concluded and established that Kapoor, Fatehi, and other named individuals had no proven connection to the alleged drug network.
Authorities further clarified that investigators carefully reviewed witness statements, forensic evidence, and financial records during the probe. Consequently, officials determined that no material evidence suggested the involvement of any celebrity in drug trafficking or consumption. The announcement has provided relief to the actors and helped close speculation surrounding their alleged links to the case.
Drug seizure triggered wide-ranging probe
The case dates back to August 2022 when the Mumbai Police arrested alleged drug trafficker Salim Suhail Shaikh through coordinated operations by the Crime Branch and the Anti-Narcotics Cell. During the raid, officers recovered mephedrone valued at approximately Rs 1.19 lakh. Subsequently, investigators reported that Shaikh told authorities he had supplied drugs to private parties attended by several public figures.
In 2025, the Anti-Narcotics Cell questioned multiple celebrities, including Kapoor and Fatehi, as part of an expanded investigation. However, officials confirmed that no concrete evidence emerged linking them to illegal drug activities. Meanwhile, police stated that they have already filed an initial chargesheet against three accused individuals. Additionally, authorities plan to submit a supplementary chargesheet against two more arrested suspects and one absconding individual as legal proceedings continue in the case.
