Children’s content creator Rachel Accurso, widely known as Ms Rachel, has announced a $1 million donation to support children in Palestine.
Accurso made the announcement on Thursday through an Instagram post.
She said her donation would go to the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund (PCRF), where she serves as an ambassador.
Ms Rachel Matches Macklemore’s $1 Million Pledge
Accurso said she was matching a $1 million donation announced earlier by rapper Macklemore.
Macklemore had pledged his earnings from Ed Sheeran’s Loop tour to organisations supporting people in Palestine.
Accurso urged other wealthy celebrities to contribute as well.
She called on prominent figures to use their platforms and resources to support children and human rights.
Donation Follows Macklemore Palestine Controversy
The announcement comes after weeks of controversy surrounding Macklemore’s public support for Palestine.
The rapper had spoken about Palestine during performances on Ed Sheeran’s tour.
His comments included calls for a free Palestine and criticism of the situation in Gaza.
The controversy intensified after Macklemore was removed from upcoming dates on Sheeran’s tour.
Tour promoters later confirmed that he would not perform at the remaining shows.
Macklemore said he was disappointed by the decision.
He added that he considered his efforts successful if they helped draw greater attention to the suffering of Palestinians.
He later announced plans to donate his tour earnings to organisations working in Palestine.
Other Artists Withdraw From Tour
Sheeran defended the decision to remove Macklemore from the tour.
He said he preferred to keep political views separate from his professional platform.
However, several supporting artists disagreed with the decision.
Four acts, including the tour’s live band, later withdrew from the tour in solidarity with Macklemore.
Macklemore Calls for More Donations
Macklemore also urged businessman Robert Kraft to contribute to humanitarian efforts in Palestine.
Kraft later announced a $2 million donation to the region.
Sheeran also said he would make a donation.
According to Sheeran, the decision to donate had been made before Macklemore announced his own pledge.
Ms Rachel’s $1 million commitment now adds another major contribution to organisations supporting Palestinian children.
