An MPhil student was allegedly shot dead by her cousin after she refused his marriage proposal in Khanewal district, police said.
The incident occurred in Faridpur, within the jurisdiction of Sarai Sidhu Police Station in the 12-Mile area.
According to police, the suspect, identified as Zeeshan, allegedly opened fire on his cousin, Nazish Razaq, after she rejected his marriage proposal.
The victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds and died at the scene.
Police officers reached the location after receiving information about the shooting.
They secured the area and began collecting evidence as part of the initial investigation.
Victimโs body shifted for post-mortem
Following the completion of initial legal procedures, authorities shifted the victimโs body to Civil Hospital Kabirwala.
Doctors will conduct a post-mortem examination as part of the investigation.
Meanwhile, police have launched an inquiry into the killing and are pursuing legal action against the suspect.
