LAHORE: The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency) has registered a case against PML-N lawmaker Saqib Chadhar under PECA laws over allegations of cyber harassment, blackmail, and threats targeting actor and model Momina Iqbal.
Allegations of harassment and blackmail
According to the FIR, complainant Momina Iqbal approached the NCCIA after facing alleged harassment from the lawmaker, his wife, and associates. The complaint states that the accused used threatening messages and allegedly carried out unlawful surveillance.
Moreover, the FIR claims the harassment began after Iqbal rejected a marriage proposal. It further alleges that Chadhar sent private videos and threatened to leak personal data if she did not agree to marry him. Officials say similar messages were also sent to her husband and family members.
Digital evidence and investigation
Investigators traced threatening messages to a phone number linked to the lawmaker. They also recovered alleged videos from Iqbalโs mobile phone as part of the evidence.
Furthermore, authorities seized a video and mobile device provided by Iqbalโs sister, who is a lawyer. These items have been sent for forensic analysis. The FIR also alleges that data and applications were deleted from the suspectโs phone before it was submitted for investigation.
Earlier complaints and police action
Iqbal had earlier approached Lahore police to register a case, citing harassment, blackmail, and death threats. She said repeated calls and messages were sent to her and her family, including WhatsApp threats.
In addition, she reported that the situation intensified during her wedding preparations. The case gained public attention after she recently got married.
Authorities say the investigation is ongoing as they continue to examine digital evidence and communication records.
