Motorway Police
ISLAMABAD: The National Highways & Motorway Police (NHMP) has issued a final warning to vehicles without M-Tag and has established a deadline for the ban’s enforcement, on Monday.
NHMP has cautioned travelers to promptly acquire mandatory M-Tags for their vehicles; otherwise, they risk being barred from entering motorways.

Motorway Police has set a deadline and instructed car owners to obtain their M-Tags by December 31. Car owners who fail to do so will face a ban from entering the motorways starting on January 1, 2024, in addition to fines.
This regulation applies to all motorways, including Islamabad-Peshawar M-1, Lahore-Abdul Hakeem M-3, Pindi Bhattian-Multan M-4, Multan-Sukkur M-5, Hakla-Dera Ismail Khan M-14, and Hasan Abdal-Mansehra Expressway E-35.
It is important to note that approximately 150,000 vehicles traverse the Islamabad-Lahore M-2 Motorway daily. Vehicles equipped with M-Tags can easily pass through checkpoints and avoid traffic congestion.
Previously, M-Tags were issued based on computerized national identity cards (CNICs); however, travelers are now obligated to submit their vehicle registration smart card.
Travelers can recharge their M-Tags through the One Network App or M-Tag Point.
