Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has approved, in principle, a nationwide system for issuing Police Character Certificates. The decision came during a meeting held in Islamabad on Tuesday.
Naqvi said the National Police Bureau will now issue police clearance certificates across the country. He added that the previous process has been simplified, accelerated, and moved entirely online.
Citizens will be able to apply for and receive Police Character Certificates through the National Police Bureau portal. Consequently, applicants will no longer need to complete lengthy manual procedures.
Online System To Simplify Services
The interior minister also directed officials to establish a uniform system for issuing International Driving Permits. He said the standardised process would benefit Pakistanis travelling abroad.
Moreover, Naqvi said the new digital systems would improve efficiency and make public services more accessible. Therefore, citizens will be able to complete both processes more conveniently.
He also described transforming the National Police Bureau into an active and dynamic institution as a top government priority.
Minister Pays Tribute To Police Martyrs
During the visit, Naqvi honoured police personnel who sacrificed their lives while maintaining peace and combating crime. He said the nation would always remember their contributions.
Furthermore, he pledged continued support for the families of police martyrs. He added that their sacrifices could never be fully repaid.
The interior minister also inspected renovation and decoration work at the National Police Bureau headquarters. Meanwhile, the bureau’s director general briefed him on its ongoing operations and future plans.
