A missing Irish mountaineer Alexander has been found dead in Siran Valley in Mansehra. He went missing while descending Musa Ka Mussala in Siran Valley last week. Rescue 1122 officials confirmed this tragic news today.
According to Rescue 1122 Mansehra, rescuers recovered his body from the Jabar area of Pracha during a joint search operation.
The operation involved Rescue 1122, police, the Forest Department, and local residents, who searched the difficult mountainous terrain.
Alexander had traveled to Siran Valley with British national Alun David Cooper Cledwyn to climb Musa Ka Mussala. The peak stands more than 13,500 feet above sea level.
Mountaineer goes missing during descent
According to SP Central Shahnawaz Khan, the two climbers first visited Gilgit-Baltistan before reaching a resort in Mandachucha.
They spent Friday night at the resort and began their climb the following morning. Both mountaineers successfully reached the summit.
However, rainy weather created difficult conditions during their descent. The two men then decided to follow separate walking tracks.
Cledwyn safely returned to the Mandachucha resort on Sunday. Alexander, however, failed to return, prompting authorities to begin a search operation.
Rescue teams intensify search
As weather conditions worsened, rescuers faced major challenges while searching the mountainous area.
Hazara Range Deputy Inspector General of Police Nasir Mehmood Satti said 15 teams participated in the operation.
Authorities also deployed sniffer dogs and high-tech drones to locate the missing climber.
The rescue team recovered Alexander’s body from the Jabar area of Pracha today.
