HARIPUR: The body of five-year-old Ayat Noor, who went missing from Haripur around two weeks ago, has been recovered from a well.
Authorities recovered the child’s body from a well inside a warehouse on University Road. Police later shifted her remains to a hospital for a post-mortem examination. The recovery followed an investigation into Ayat’s disappearance from Pathan Colony. Her family had reported her missing after she left home to play and failed to return.
Police Identify Suspects in Abduction Case
Police registered a kidnapping case after receiving a complaint from Ayat Noor’s father.
Investigators later examined CCTV footage to trace the people allegedly involved in her disappearance. The investigation identified five suspects in connection with the case. Police have arrested three of the suspects so far. Authorities are also searching for two other suspects who remain at large.
According to police, the arrested suspects confessed to abusing Ayat before disposing of her body. Investigators are continuing efforts to apprehend the remaining suspects.
Post-Mortem Conducted After Body Recovery
Police took custody of Ayat’s body after identifying the location where she had been found. Doctors conducted a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of her death. The medical examination will also help investigators establish whether the child suffered abuse before her death.
Authorities are expected to use the medical findings alongside other evidence gathered during the investigation. The case has caused deep distress among Ayat’s family and local residents. Her disappearance had already triggered concern in the area, while the recovery of her body has intensified demands for justice.
Relatives Protest on GT Road
After the post-mortem examination, authorities handed Ayat Noor’s body over to her relatives. The grieving family and local residents later placed her body on GT Road and staged a protest. The protesters demanded justice for the child and called for strict action against those responsible for her death.
Meanwhile, police continue to investigate the case and search for the two absconding suspects. Authorities are also expected to examine the evidence collected during the investigation and the findings of the post-mortem.
The case has highlighted serious concerns over child safety in the area. For Ayat’s family, the immediate priority remains justice and accountability for those allegedly responsible for the tragedy.
