Acid Evidence and Possible Foreign Biological Traces Emerge
The investigation into the death of 25-year-old Karachi businessman Mir Raza Ali has taken another disturbing turn after reports of possible acid exposure and biological evidence linked to another person.
Media reports citing investigative sources said traces of acid were found in Mir Raza’s stomach and on different parts of his body and clothing. Investigators are examining whether corrosive chemicals played a role before his death.
Sources cited by Dunya News and Daily Times claimed that Mir Raza’s lungs showed severe damage associated with acid exposure.
Reported signs of chemical exposure were also found on his hands and feet.
Investigators also reportedly detected acid traces and sweat believed to belong to another person on Mir Raza’s shirt.
If laboratory testing confirms that biological material belongs to someone else, investigators could potentially compare it with samples collected from people questioned in the case.
However, some important forensic findings remain incomplete.
ARY News reported separately that the damaged front section of Mir Raza’s shirt had been sent for examination but that key forensic testing at Karachi University had not yet been completed.
Analysis relating to marks and ballistic evidence on the shirt was also reportedly pending.
Therefore, claims about acid, foreign biological material and their significance should be treated as preliminary until final laboratory and medical reports are formally released.
The latest developments follow the second post-mortem examination, which found a firearm entry wound on Mir Raza’s upper back.
The bullet reportedly travelled through the body after fracturing ribs and exited from the front.
Doctors also documented injuries to his head, face and other parts of his body.
Mir Raza disappeared on July 28 and his body was discovered the following day in bushes near Shahi Qila Ground in Gulistan-e-Jauhar.
Police initially investigated the possibility of suicide, but his family strongly rejected that theory.
A murder charge was later added after the second post-mortem raised serious questions about the circumstances of his death.
Suspicious Guest House Sealed as Investigation Expands
Police have now sealed a guest house considered suspicious in connection with the investigation.
Reports say six employees connected with the property have been taken into custody for questioning.
Investigators have reportedly questioned or detained around 21 people as the inquiry expands.
Those being examined include individuals connected to the guest house as well as Mir Raza’s friends and business associates.
Authorities are attempting to reconstruct Mir Raza’s movements before his death and determine whether the guest house played any role in the crime.
His father has previously questioned why CCTV footage from the property had not been released and why the family had not been fully informed about questioning of guest house employees.
The police investigation has also undergone a major restructuring.
The previous team was replaced following concerns raised by Mir Raza’s family and lawyer Jibran Nasir.
A new five-member investigation team headed by DIG Crime and Investigation Amir Farooqi has been assigned to review the physical, technical, circumstantial and forensic evidence.
The investigation itself has also been transferred from Ferozabad Police Station to Zaman Town Police Station in District Korangi.
Inspector Chaudhry Ghazanfar Ali has been tasked with conducting the investigation under the supervision of the new team.
Mir Raza’s father has said the family currently has confidence in the new investigation team and wants to see its findings before deciding whether another inquiry mechanism is required.
What Is Sharjeel Memon’s Connection to the Guest House Allegation?
The case has generated intense political controversy because social media accounts have alleged that the suspicious guest house belongs to Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon.
That claim has not been established by investigators or verified through reliable public evidence.
Memon has categorically denied owning the property or having any connection with Mir Raza’s death.
The allegation is politically sensitive because Memon is not an ordinary political figure.
He is a senior leader of the Pakistan Peoples Party, which governs Sindh, and currently serves as Senior Minister for Information, Transport and Mass Transit in the Sindh government.
His position places him among the province’s most senior cabinet members.
Memon has approached the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency over social media posts linking him and his son, Rawal Memon, to the case.
His complaint describes the accusations as false, fabricated and part of an organised campaign intended to damage their reputation.
The complaint specifically refers to online allegations claiming that the guest house was owned by Memon and that his son travelled to London immediately after Mir Raza’s death.
Memon rejects both claims.
Rawal Memon is currently in London, but the claim that he suddenly fled Pakistan because of the Mir Raza case has not been established.
He told Geo News that he was in London on holiday and described allegations linking himself and his father to the killing as lies.
He called for those spreading the accusations to be investigated.
Memon’s complaint asks the NCCIA to identify the people behind the social media accounts, examine their digital records and determine whether the posts were part of a coordinated campaign.
At present, there is no publicly verified evidence establishing that Sharjeel Memon or Rawal Memon owns the sealed guest house or was involved in Mir Raza Ali’s death.
Those allegations remain disputed and should not be presented as established facts.
The investigation is now focused on forensic testing, the sealed guest house, CCTV records, witness statements and people connected with Mir Raza during his final hours.
The reported biological material on his clothing could become particularly important if laboratory analysis confirms it and investigators obtain a matching sample.
Until those tests are completed, key questions surrounding the chemical evidence, the guest house and the identity of those responsible for Mir Raza’s death remain unanswered.
