On Thursday, former English captain Michael Vaughan and Pakistan director Mohammad Hafeez convened for a meeting to resolve their online dispute that had transpired during the ICC World Cup 2023.
Via X (formerly Twitter), Vaughan shared a photo alongside Mohammad Hafeez during the first Test between Australia and Pakistan at the Perth Cricket Stadium. In his caption, Vaughan expressed, “Great to catch up with Mohammad Hafeez in Perth.”
The snapshot clearly indicates that any animosity between the former cricketers seems to have dissipated, evident from the smiles exchanged.
Earlier, during the World Cup, both Vaughan and Hafeez engaged in social media clashes.
The tussle between former English captain Michael Vaughan and ex-Pakistan all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez continued to capture attention in the cricketing sphere.
Vaughan once shared a post, referencing Hafeez, after Virat Kohli secured another wicket in international cricket by dismissing Dutch skipper Scott Edwards.
Seizing the opportunity, Vaughan took a dig at Hafeez, informing him that he was not the only batter removed by Virat Kohli. “Don’t worry, Hafeez. You were not the only one,” remarked Vaughan.
Michael Vaughan had expressed his thoughts on Pakistan’s batting performance, suggesting that the batters could benefit from adopting a more selfish approach similar to that of Indian cricketer Virat Kohli. Vaughan’s comment came in the aftermath of Pakistan’s elimination from the World Cup, extinguishing their hopes of qualifying for the semi-finals.
Vaughan’s tweet, which read, “Maybe Pakistani batters need to be a bit more selfish like Virat. @MHafeez22,” ignited discussions on the contrasting styles of play and strategic decisions among cricket enthusiasts and analysts.
