ISLAMABAD: MG is set to introduce a new electric vehicle to Pakistan’s growing EV landscape with the launch of the all-new MG ES5, a compact electric SUV first showcased at the 2025 Shanghai Auto Show.
Positioned as a successor to the MG ZS EV, the ES5 will join MG Pakistan’s lineup as a modern, eco-friendly alternative to traditional fuel-powered SUVs. The model is already geared for global markets, including Europe, the UK, and Australia.
Built on the Modular Scalable Platform (MSP) — the same architecture as the MG4 hatchback — the ES5 offers an extended wheelbase, sleek styling, and upgraded tech.
Its exterior features a grille-less, aerodynamic design with sharp, split LED headlights and cyberster-inspired bumper intakes. At the rear, the SUV boasts a full-width LED taillight bar, lending it a high-tech, futuristic appearance.
Performance-wise, the ES5 is powered by a rear-mounted electric motor that delivers 168 hp (170 PS) and 250 Nm of torque. It uses an ultra-slim lithium iron phosphate battery developed by SAIC-CATL, available in three variants to suit different range needs.
Competing against other compact electric SUVs such as the Kia EV4 and Peugeot E-2008, the MG ES5 is expected to attract Pakistani buyers with its modern aesthetics, practical features, and competitive specifications.
Key Specs:
- Length: 4,476 mm (176.2 in) — 162 mm longer than the ZS EV
- Wheelbase: 2,730 mm (107.5 in)
- Width: 1,849 mm
- Height: 1,621 mm
- Weight: 1,685–1,720 kg
