ISLAMABAD: Pakistani actress Mehwish Hayat has described performing the hit item song “Billi” as one of the most important decisions of her career while reflecting on her transition from television dramas to films. The actress shared details about her professional journey during a recent interview following the renewed success of her television drama Dayan.
Mehwish said shifting from television to cinema was a bold move that carried significant risks. However, she added that she remained determined to prove herself on the big screen despite uncertainty surrounding the transition. Recalling the filming of “Billi,” the actress revealed that she felt physically exhausted, injured and extremely nervous during the shoot.
Despite the challenges, Mehwish said she stayed confident because veteran actor Javed Sheikh had once told her she possessed a strong “film face” during a previous drama production. She further explained that filmmakers Nabeel Qureshi and Fizza Ali Meerza approached her after watching her performances and encouraged her to join the project.
“I did it, and it turned out to be one of the best decisions I ever made,” Mehwish said. She also praised the filmmakers for ensuring the song blended naturally into the storyline instead of appearing as a separate dance sequence.
Meanwhile, actor Fahad Mustafa shared a humorous memory from the shoot, revealing that the owner of the filming location became so captivated by Mehwish’s performance that he accidentally fell from a height while watching.
Fans will next see Mehwish and Fahad together in the upcoming horror-comedy film Zombied, which is scheduled for release on Eidul Azha this year.
