Pakistani actress Mehar Bano has made serious claims about the country’s entertainment industry, alleging that some television dramas now use scripts generated with artificial intelligence. She also expressed concern about workplace safety for women working on drama sets.
A video of the actress discussing the issues has gone viral on social media. During the conversation, Mehar said many viewers may not realize that AI-generated scripts are already appearing on television. She claimed she had worked on one such project and described the practice as disrespectful to professional writers.
According to Mehar, the increasing use of artificial intelligence undermines the efforts of writers who dedicate years to developing their skills. Furthermore, she said the industry’s changing creative environment contributed to her decision to step away from acting.
The actress explained that she had become frustrated with the industry’s current direction. As a result, she decided to stop accepting acting projects.
Mehar also spoke about workplace conditions for women in the entertainment sector. She said that despite greater awareness following the #MeToo movement, many women still face uncomfortable and inappropriate situations on drama sets. Moreover, she claimed she had personally experienced such incidents and witnessed similar experiences involving other women during the past two years.
Mehar Bano is known for her performances in television dramas, including Mohalla, Meri Tanhai, and Sar e Rah. Her recent remarks have sparked discussion on social media about the use of artificial intelligence in television production and the need to improve workplace standards across Pakistan’s entertainment industry.
